Switch

"Shall we do a little scene?"

"That's why we're here, sir."

"It will be a *short* scene."

"Well, that would be a switch. You do tend to go on and on."

"A switch, you say?"

"Oh, oh."

"I just happen to have one right here."

"That won't be necessary, sir."

"But it's *fun* to switch. Lots of people do it, you know."

"It's difficult to argue with such logic, sir."

"Exactly. Shall it be twenty-four on the bare, or thirty-six over clothing?"

"I'd prefer to keep my shorts on, sir."

"You understand the switch leaves marks?"

"No kidding, sir."

"I mean on your white shorts. Every stroke will leave a faint greenish-brown line that might be difficult to explain."

"Oh, I can come up with a good story, sir."

"You can? And how would you describe this explanation of yours?"

"As a thirty-six-line shorts story, sir."
